Muktinath Trekking |
Kaligandaki-Muktinath area is situated in north of Pokhara
"Gorepani," where we spend one night before
descending Tatopani offers some of the most dramatic close-up
views of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the
world. In addition, this region is known for some of the
most abrupt altitude variations experienced anywhere.
A magnificent sunrise at Poon Hill, before descending
Tatopani (hot spring) and then we encounter the world’s
deepest gorge, where the powerful Kaligandaki River has
cut deep through the Himalaya between the massive peaks
of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna views of wonderful Dhaulagiri
Icefall. As we trek up the Kaligandaki valley we pass
though the traditional and prosperous villages of Tukuche,
Ghasa, Marpha and Jomsom. The Thakalis, a traditional
traders, have converted their charming and wonderfully
clean homes into trekkers lodges and are well known as
one of the most gracious and successful inn-keepers in
Nepal. Past jomsom we reach the arid Tibet-like landscape
of Mustang. At Mukinath, set below the Thorung La Pass
we have a day to explore the temple and villages and enjoy
wonderful mountain views. Finishing our trek along one
the major pilgrimage and trade routes Jomsom between India
and Tibet we experience local traders, Hindu and Buddhist
pilgrims making the end of our adventure as amazing as
the beginning. Clients carry daypack only walks at their
own pace. Walking hour is about 6-7hrs per day. |
